M.Sc:
During the recent years the Control Systems Department of the Institute of Cybernetics at TUT has actively developed a program package NLControl, which allows to solve modelling, analysis and synthesis problems for nonlinear control systems and is based on computer algebra system Mathematica.
About twenty functions from NLControl package are made available on NLControl website, which can be found here. The aim of the student woud to add new functions to the website. Of course, in case one has necessary skills, it is always possible to improve the design and the user interface of the website! The website is located in Linux server and it uses Apache Tomcat servlets, but for student there is no need deal neither of them. The website uses webMathematica technology. The pages of the site are .jsp (java server pages) files, which are written in simple html, but also contain some Java and JavaScript elements. It is possible to use php, C and other languages. The willingness to learn some Mathematica/webMathematica programming language is assumed, because the pages also contain Mathematica blocks. However, there are very competent supervisors of Mathematica in the Control Systems Department. And naturally, one has to understand a bit of mathematics - derivatives, differentials, integrals, etc, because one has to test examples in Mathematica, in webMathematica and with pencil and paper and the result must be the same everywhere! Anyway, if you feel your mathematical background is not so strong, don't let it frighten you, because there are the team members around, who will help you, if you will get in trouble with complex computations.
